Are you up to speed with all the jargon and txt speak your kids are using when texting or messaging on Snapchat or Kik messenger?
If you get a reply like this from your kid do you immediately know what it means?
If not, you might want to swot up on the most common used acronyms. From a parenting perspective, these break down into two groups.
1. Coded warnings to the other person that you (the parent) are around, or sexting acronyms that might concern you if you see them on your kids phone.

The Better Parenting Institute posted an excellent list of text speak that parents should be on the look out for on their kids phones. You can read the full list at the Better Parenting Institute but here are some which relate to “Parent Alert!” and Sexting.
Parent alerts
CD9 – Code 9 – it means parents are around
99: Parent has left
P911 – Parent Alert
PAL – Parents Are Listening
PAW – Parents Are Watching
PIR – Parent In Room
MOS – Mom Over Shoulder
KPC – Keeping Parents Clueless
